Installation & Maintenance

Installation:

Only two screws (included) are needed to install your backsplash.

French Cleat Mounting System:

Each backsplash includes a stainless steel French cleat for secure, straightforward installations. A French cleat is a two-piece interlocking bracket system: one cleat mounts to the wall, while the other is welded to the back of the backsplash. Once the wall-mounted cleat is installed, the back simply slides in place.

The mounting system provides exceptional strength while allowing the backsplash to be easily removed and reinstalled if needed. The stainless steel cleats are completely concealed once the backsplash is mounted, creating a clean, seamless appearance. 

Tools Needed:

  • Screwdriver or drill
  • Tape measure
  • Level
  • Stud finder
  • Drywall anchors and screw are included with your backsplash

Installation Steps:

  1. Locate the studs. Use a stud finder to locate the wall studs behind your range. Studs are typically spaced 16 inches apart.
  2. Install the wall cleat. Position the cleat on the wall and align it with the studs whenever possible. Using a drill or screwdriver, install the included drywall anchors and secure the cleat with the provided screws. For maximum strength, we recommend fastening the cleat into at least one stud (two studs are preferred). The cleat does not need to be perfectly centered above the range as the backsplash can be adjusted once mounted.
  3. Mount the backsplash. Slide the backsplash onto the wall-mounted cleant. Adjust it to the left or right as needed to center it behind your range.
  4. Install decorative nails (if applicable). If your backsplash includes decorative hooks, insert decorative nails into the pre-drilled holes. Nails are decorative only and do not need to be installed into studs. 


Maintenance and Aging: 

  • If you need to clean your backsplash, remove it from the cleat and wash with warm soap and water. Follow this by cleaning it with Bar Keepers Friend. Once cleaned, thoroughly dry the backsplash and rehang it. 
  • If you like an aged look, you can try aging your backsplash using vinegar or an aging solution.

Please note: Any aging treatment or alternation to the finish will void the warranty and make the backsplash ineligible for return. Because aging methods can produce varying results, we strongly recommend testing the process on a sample first to ensure you are happy with the final appearance before applying it to your backsplash.
